How topics are chosen and checked

We scan official sources daily

Each morning we review announcements from standard setters, regulators, governments, market bodies and major companies, using their own websites and publications rather than news coverage.

We pick one announcement

We choose the item most likely to change what organisations must measure, report or do — or the one most likely to be misunderstood.

We explain from primary documents

Every explainer is written from the original text: the standard, the regulation, the consultation paper or the company filing.

We state the document version and date

At the top of each page you'll see exactly which document — and which version — the explainer describes.

We check every figure

Numbers are traced back to a named source. Where a figure is an estimate, we say so.

We label the status

The status track shows whether something is proposed, out for consultation, adopted or in force, so you can tell an idea from an obligation.

AI-assisted writing, with automated checks

Drafts are written with AI assistance and pass automated checks for sourcing, dates and figures before publication.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a dated note at the bottom of the explainer saying what changed.
